There was silence then thunder boomed.  All the kids screamed and ran around in their pyjamas. I was afraid of being turned into orange juice. Because I was on the floor.  Then they became silent again and huddled around a girl. Who told a story of when she swam in the ocean and a shark came up and almost bit her.  You see I’m a an orange slice and I’m not afraid of that story like everyone else but being chomped. Unlike that girl. So that is my story and luckily I ended up here in the dump like you.

2. I like to work with a partner that works around the same pace as me
3. I like to do things and try them instead of someone showing me how to do it
4. I like to read
5. I like to learn different ways

   Have you ever wondered about the life of the ocean? and how different creatures  survive and have  lives in the ocean . The beluga whale is known for it’s beauty and playfulness but to learn about the true beluga keep reading this essay.  But first you will learn about  the difference between baleen and toothed for some background knowledge     

The Difference Between Baleen And Toothed Whales

Whales can be sorted into two categories Baleen and toothed whales, “Baleen whales have a comb-like fringe, called a baleen, on the upper jaw, which is used to filter plankton, as well as small fish and crustaceans” (www.defenders.org )But toothed whales have teeth as you might have figured out. Toothed whales eat squid,fish and other sea critters.

 

Where The Beluga Whales Lives

 

             Beluga whales live in colder waters.  They live in sub-arctic and arctic waters.  Beluga whales live near the shore, Because  they forge towards the bottom of places with shallow waters.

 

Characteristics Of The Beluga Whale                                                

Beluga whales have some unique characteristics that are different than other whale.  Some whales have dorsal fins but the beluga whale does not. Also Beluga whales are the only whales that have a flexible neck! So as you can see the beluga whale has some very unique facts.                                                                                                                                                                               Beluga whales are not completely different from other whales. Beluga whales  weigh 2000-3000 lbs and can be 13-20 feet long.  Plus Beluga whales have about the same life span of the average whale they live about 35-50 years.   

 

                                                           

                                                                       

Predators And Prey

        Beluga whales are close to the top of the  food chains so that so that means they are carnivores. They have three predators  killer whale polar bear and humans.   The beluga whales have prey too they prey on fish,shellfish  and octopus.  “Beluga whales are opportunistic feeders”(www.defenders.org)         

 

         Now that you have learned about the beluga whale  and the difference about baleen and toothed whales.  Go and see them yourself.

Bob was going to make a new pot of popcorn. He started the pot of oil on the stove.  When it was hot enough he put in the popcorn and went outside happily. SUDDENLY he heard a loud bang from the kitchen. He rushed popcorn all on the floor.  He must have put way too much popcorn in the pot. His brother rushed in to see what the commotion was. Just then their mother walked in saw the mess and asked who did it.  Bob pointed at his brother,blamed it on him. From this day forward popcorn haunts him.
