My research Essay – What Octopuses Are Like

Imagine if you were an octopus and a scuba diver came and you didn’t know they were right there so you moved and they got closer to you, what would you do? As me being  an octopus I would spray my ink than run away and I would do the same if my predator was coming for me I’d spray my ink  to keep my life while I can. I love being a invertebrate cause I can squeeze through  small spaces, I love being a cephalopod because my 8 tentacles help me do more than one thing at a time also being a carnivore is kind of fun cause I can taste others but also sad because it’s like i’m a criminal i’m eating others it’s not fair that i’m eating them they should live like I am.

Adaptations for avoiding their predators / prey.

If an octopus tries to escape from its predator and the things it tries to do  don’t work it will loose it’s arm and regenerate it back later. The other way it avoid its predators is it change it’s color (quickly or  immediately) to surrounding. The other way is it mimic the other animals around them. Octopuses sprays its ink to avoid it’s predator  because it gives them time to swim away it also takes some of the smell away from the fleeing octopus to track down. Also octopuses have beak like jaws that can deliver an nasty venomous or nasty saliva that is used mainly for subduing  prey.

mimicry

Octopuses also squeeze through little spots that their predator can’t squeeze into, so they will be able to escape. Octopuses has a muscle called pigment also instantaneously they change color to their  surroundings. Octopuses hide on a plane sight. Octopuses are  able to make themselves bigger and smaller to mimic things around them. Because the octopuses are shy nature octopuses camouflage themselves when they are not hidden in crevices.

biology about octopuses

A octopus tentacles  have about 280 suckers, the suckers contains 2 roles which sense, touch, and smell. Octopuses have three hearts number two pumps blood through the gills, three pumps blood through it’s body. They each pump blood through the octopus’s closed circulatory system. Octopuses also have axial nerve cord down the center of each arm to carry information to and from the brain. The siphon can be found near the base of the octopus’s mantle (the round-shaped head or body area.)

Octopuses can eat hard shell animals.Octopuses have three hearts that pump blood through different parts of its body. The largest octopus is about 18 feet; the smallest octopus is about 2 inches. Octopuses have about 280 suckers on each arm that contains 2 rolls in its body.  They can squeeze through tiny cracks to escape from predators. The octopuses  also use ink to escape from predators. The ink makes it harder to find the fleeing octopus.

Would you agree with me from what you just learn that octopuses are unique in different ways and don’t have other animals really similar to them because others don’t have three hearts or 8 tentacles, they can’t squeeze through little cracks,  loose an arm and grow it  back later or regenerate it back later, other female animals don’t die after birth.

Fun facts:

– A mantis shrimp can beat an octopus in a fight.

– octopuses change color instantaneously.

–  octopuses  turns white when agitated and red when it is suddenly frightened.

–  Chromatophores are the pigmentation  sacs that allow octopuses to blend into their surroundings so flawlessly (made by three pigment cells that are red, yellow, and brown).

– The octopuses mouth is located in the center of the disk from which the tentacles radiate.

–  Their are more than 150 species of octopuses.

The smallest octopus is 2 inches long. The largest octopus is 18 feet.

–  Octopuses have an arm span of almost 30 feet.
