CHANGEMAKERS?

by Jayden

We are students of Lyles-Crouch Traditional Academy in Alexandria, VA on a mission to support Black Lives Matter. We want an end to racism! We believe that no one should be treated unfairly and see a future where black people, and other minorities, are no longer being treated like they are some worthless person that should have never been born.

The goals of LCTA Changemakers is to create “change.” Our ACPS sponsored service-learning project is designed to turn students into community problem-solvers. Our project is all about creating a new narrative through youth activism. We want to:

  • convince the Alexandria community why it’s in their interest to demand an end Zero Tolerance practices.
  • build a series of campaigns to inform the public of the impact these policies have on African American students and the community.

  • get help from major civic organizations, faith and business leaders, high-ranking political officials, scholars, law enforcement officers, celebrities, and more!
