Please consider sharing your social studies lesson planning resources to help other ACPS teachers plan engaging lessons. For more information about resource sharing, see the FAQs. For social studies, we are particularly seeking resources to support:

  • Literacy in the content area
  • Blended learning/technology integration
  • Implementation of history and social science skills (analyzing primary and secondary sources, applying geographic skills, understanding multiple perspectives, determining cause and effect, comparing and contrasting, etc.)
  • Differentiated resources to support ELs, SWD, and TAG Students

 

Social Studies Collaborative Networks

How can we help our students become critical thinkers who understand and can communicate about the past, the world around them, and their role in shaping the future? Grade level teams of teachers are meeting in Collaborative Networks  plan lessons and assessments that engage students in authentic learning and help develop critical skills. During each session, teacher leaders will unpack the revised Standards of Learning for History and Social Science and develop instructional activities, assessments, and suggestions for technology integration to support teaching and learning.
