Mentoring is an opportunity to:
- have a positive influence on the life of a young immigrant
- impart invaluable career expertise to a young apprentice
- improve your leadership skills by working with a young adult
- create positive public relations for your organization
- give real-world context to a student’s academic learning
- serve as a role-model for a rising senior
Helpful Details
- Time period: December through March.
- Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the site.
- Interns are unpaid, but will receive high school course credits for their work.
- Internship sites may host more than one intern if they choose.
- Students are insured by Alexandria City Public Schools.
- Mentors will receive an orientation prior to the start of the internship.
- Interns will work approximately 75 hours over the course of a 15 week internship.
