Pearl’s Surprised About who her Father Is

November4

Pearl found out that Dimmesdale is her real father. She was surprised at first then she started asking him questions that she want to know. Pearl ‘s mother Hester is still wearing the letter A on her chest which stands for adultery. Pearl’s mother Hester said that only one person can take the letter a off her chest which is god.  Until then Hester said that she  was still going to wear the letter A on her chest. Pearl kept asking her mother a lot of questions, so Hester told Pearl to be quiet. Hester also respond to Pearl that these are things that you are too young to understand . “Pearl was wondering why townspeople was in town all dressed up and was standing up in front of the scaffold where Hester once stood with Pearl in her arms”. Everybody was there to hear and see reverend Dimmesdale give his sermon also known as the speech of his life. Pearl was all dressed up as her normal self with her colorfully colors on that she had always wore. The sermon that Dimmesdale was given was the  most powerful speech he has given before in his life. The intend audience was the towns people who felt like Dimmesdale’s speech had wisdom and beauty in its words. Somehow after reverend Dimmesdale gives his sermon he dies unexpectly on the scaffold. The book did not give us the cause of reverend Dimmesdale’s unexpected death. I guess that reverend Dimmesdale had already had a will made, because he had left all of his property and values to his daughter Pearl. Pearl is basically rich now from all the things that reverend Dimmesdale had left. I don’t think the book told us if he left some of his values or properties to Pearl’s mother Hester. I think after everything was over Hester and her daughter Pearl had moved somewhere else.

“Pearl’s Surprised About who her Father Is”

What did Dimmesdale tell the town when he was on the scaffold just before he died? Wasn’t he sick for so long because he had not told the truth about him and Hester for 7 years? That is a long time to keep a secret like that. And with him being a minister of the church, that made his secret even worse.
