When March Went Mad #2

October5

This week the reading strategy I am choosing to use is prediction. In the story, everyone who is releasing preseason polls is saying that Larry Bird’s team, the Indiana State Sycamores, will not finish first in the Missouri Valley Conference and definitely will not make it to the NCAA tournament. In the text it says “College basketball expert, Anson Mount, dismissed Bird’s supporting cast, writing that the Sycamores will be inexperienced and Bird will again carry the team with little help.” This just shows how no one has faith in his team to do anything this year. But I am predicting that Bird and the Sycamores overcome all the naysayers and doubters and rise up to the challenge. I believe that they will win the Missouri Valley Conference and they will make it to the NCAA tournament. I just say this because it sounds like a classic case of underdog/Cinderella story, and those are the teams that usually prove everyone wrong.
