Street Pharm is a book with a lot of real life problems and situations. So far the main character, Tyrone Johnson had been dealing with problems about school and the family business, drugs. In this post I will be making a connection with one of Ty’s situations. In the last chapter I read Ty skipped school to make one of his many delivers and he has to get an excuse to go back to school. “The doctor was a middle-aged Chinese lady. I gave her a story about my horrible skull-splitting headaches. She gave me a prescription for codeine and a note excusing my school absences.”  Like Ty, one of my friends skipped school, but he skipped school because he went to a soccer game, just like Ty he needed an excuse otherwise he would never get to school again. My friend did the exact same Ty did, he went to the doctor and told him that the day before he was feeling terrible and he couldn’t even look at the light, he persuaded the doctor, and at  the end the doctor gave him an excuse for his absence and medication. As I always say Street Pharm is a nice book read, especially for young people because it is realistic.
