This week in “Black Hawk Down”, the United States Army Rangers are preparing for a mission to take down two chiefs of the Somali warlord: Mohamed Farrah Aidid. The Rangers were the head of the mission. “They were fitter, faster, and first-“Rangers lead the way!” was their motto.” (Bowden, 9.) This is entertaining and interesting that the US Rangers are first to enter the battle. But I must question why is it that the special forces choose the Rangers to enter first opposed to another branch. It just makes me wonder what separates the Rangers from the rest of the military.
