Independent Reading Blog Post #1 Q3
Visualization.
My book is called “Black Hawk Down”. This novel was written by Mark Bowden and based off a true story. I have enjoyed reading the first few chapters because it gives a preview of action packed scenes. Bowden writes “They’d [12 soldiers] been drunk together, gotten into fights, slept on forest floors, jumped out of airplanes, climbed mountains, shot down foaming rivers with their hearts in their throats, baked and frozen and starved together, passed countless bored hours…” (Bowden, 3.) This sentence just makes me see an image in my mind of every one of the actions described. I can see a picture of all these men being around one another through the good and funny times, and through the serious, dark times. It makes me realize how much soldiers endure, as well as how much they go through with each other. It gives me another level of respect for men in combat.
