As I was reading this book which is about a family and how the oldest sister, Emily does not like her two young sisters, Lillian and Eugenia. Emily was a girl who liked to spend time by herself and did not act like other girls her age, and she is always trying to make her sister Lillian look bad.  I wonder what is going on between Emily and Lillian that makes Emily dislike her so much. This time Lillian is ready to start school and her mom is trying to buy new clothes for her but Emily says, “She doesn’t need a new dress and new shoes, Mamma.” Why would Emily try to stop her mother from buying new clothes for her sister? and why doesn’t she want Lillian to start school? sisters sometimes fight but they still love eachother, but Emily doesn’t.  The sisters’ father is a man who barely pays attention to his family and I wonder why, as we see in the book “Papa rarely heard a word” Why doesn’t the man of the family pay attention to it? is there somthing hidden between this family that it needs to be discover?.
