This book gets more interesting as I read more because I learn more about Emily’s strange personality. Emily is just a girl but she does not act like one; she acts like a boring and mean adult especially with her younger sister Eugenia and Lillian but mostly with Lillian.  Emily certainly does not like her sister Lillian and I just do not know why because instead of being happy because her sister will start school, she is mad about it as we see in the book when she says to Lillian, “Miss Walker doesn’t like spoiled children.” In my opinion, Emily envies her sister because every time Lillian does something great she finds the way to make her feel uncomfortable or she makes her look bad as we can read in the book, “Emily kicked up a cloud of dust as she marched down our driveway and I did the best I could to avoid it.” I think that Emily is jealous of her sister because she is not as great as Lillian but I just cannot understand how Emily can dislike her sister so much.
