independent reading blog – visualization

The book I am reading, Black Hawk Down, is full of action in drama. This week I have been reading chapter 8 “DEATH”, and the soldiers are in real trouble this time. While trying to save their partner, Shughart and Gordon were both killed by Somali militiamen. The man they were trying to save, Durant, was kept alive by the Somalians because they felt he was worth more alive than dead. “We stumbled into a Hornet’s Nest”. (Bowden 57). I see soldiers engulfed by Somalians that are shooting weapons left and right. I can visualize many wounded men like Durant, who is captured by the Somalians and taken back to their camp as a hostage. I cannot imagine how tragic and scary it must look like to be in the middle of a war on enemy turf.
