The chapter Sacred ground focuses on the Late John Henry Bradley who was one of the flag raisers and his family’s trip to Mt. Suribachi years later.Scared Ground actually refers to Mt Suribachi. The island was one of the major battlefield around the world during WWI. The experience was described the experience as almost impossible to fight. The U.S marines who invaded the beach had to fight an enemy they could not see. It also talks about the author’s dad never taking credit for the flag raising and even refusing to speak to the press about it. Not even his children or his family ever knew about what truly happened there on the Mountain the day they raised the flag.
