I Am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced.
In this chapter Nujood comes back to whats happening in the present. She has gotten acquainted with Shada;a female lawyer in Yemen. Shada wont stop until Nujood is free. She said”We need to do everything we can to get Nujood out of the clutches of her husband.”(Shada,79). For the past few days, Nujood has been staying with Judge Abdel Wahed and his wife. They treated her like she was one of their own daughters.I think that is a very kind thing, especially for someone in Nujoods position. Nujjod finally wakes up into reality after she returns to the courthouse. Her divorce case isn;t a simple one.”It’s complicated for a child your age, and hard to explain”said Mohammad al-Ghazi.Since she was born in a Yemeni village, she doesn’t have a identification documents. Her marital papers have been signed by the men of her family. According to Yemeni traditions, it was therefore valid. This whole situation is unfair. Nujood is a 10 year old who hasn’t even hit puberty yet and can’t even get a simple divorce. This is upmost disgusting and immoral.
