The Privilege of Youth (connection)
The author speaks about his first year in Junior High School and the amount of homes he was in while in foster care. The one thing I connected with was when he spoke about his first day of high school. “… and how enormous the upper grade students were- until I discovered that they were in the same grade as I, and I was probably the smallest kid in the entire school.” I can understand what he was feeling as he stood in the hallways because I felt that way too. My first day of T.C was scary in the sense that everyone was super tall. Everywhere I walked, I saw a tall person. As time went on and as I was adjusting myself to T.C and it’s people, they didn’t feel so tall to me anymore. It is in this way that I can relate and understand how the author felt during this time.
