Band of Brothers Post # 1
Band of brothers is an exciting tale about a military company in the United States army and their encounters while traveling through the battlefield. The men in E Company are derived from various parts of the country, all rallying to serve and protect it. The men knew the consequences of war, and decided that they would volunteer for the position of paratrooper in order to assure that their fellow comrades were capable of holding their own. Some choose the position for the extra money, as enlisted men and officers would be granted a bonus of $50 and $100, respectively. There were others who choose the position for the glory, honor, and foreseen admiration of the country, as one soldier stated that “The desire to be better than the other guy took hold” (Ambrose, 3). There were rumors that the paratroopers would undergo the most brutal training out of all those in the army, and some men who feared this, opted for the position regardless. Why would these men choose this position if they knew the workload would be heavy? Was it because they suddenly had a burst of valor surging through them, or was it due to competition and one-upmanship?
Wow! This sounds like a pretty interesting book. I might want to read this. Relates to what i want to do in the future.
Your book sounds really cool. Nice Questioning!
Interesting book, you mentioned “paratroopers would undergo the most brutal training out of all those in the army…”. Do you think that it is fair for the volunteers to go through this brutality?
