Ms. Gruwell teaches at a high school in a “bad” neighborhood. The class she is in charge of is full of kids who are called rejects. This teacher comes from a rich place. Why would she move from that comfort place to the ghetto? When she sees that her dtudents are troublemakers and that thye don’t like her, why doesn’t she just leave. Is she afraid of the students? Why are the students so hard headed? Why can’t they accept the fact that the teaceher wants to help them?  Why do they have to be so mean to her? What happened in their life that would make them want to act this way towards Ms. Gruwell?
