25. Questioning
Chapter 4 – George
In this chapter, told by George Jenkins who couldn’t have been more than 13, finally met his best friends Sam and Rameck. Apparently they had tons of things in common which drew them even closer to one another. They all took a great interest in sports so my first question would have to be 1. why didn’t they didn’t let the recruiter recruit them into a basketball scholarship?
The lady then went onto a spiel about what else Seton Hall had to offer. She then went on about their pre-med/pre-dental program. George was all ears afterwards. 2. Why weren’t Rameck and Sam interested in what the lady was really saying? Did they not aspire to go into the medical field?
The recruiter then threw in that it would be free, George stopped and had to think what did he have to lose, but still the others were hesitant. “‘Man we could go to college for free,’ … What did we have to lose by applying?” (Jenkins, 72) 3. Why were the guys still quite reluctant although the recruiter said it would be free?
4. Why did George choose to push his guys, rather than saying ‘I’ll do it on my own’?
