The Freedom Writers Diary (Inference)

June4

After the visit from Zlata, a young teenage girl who survived a war when she was little, the students wrote about their experience and how they felt. Many wrote about how inspiring this girl was and about the dinner they were able to attend with her at a really nice and elegant restaurant. One of the students felt guilty because everyone was becoming a better person and talking about the change that has occurred in them, while this student was becoming worse. There was a secret that she held, a secret no one but her knew. “sorry, diary, I was going to try not to do it tonight, but the little baggy of white powder is calling my name.” From what this student says, i can infer that she is about to snort or take some type of drug that is in powder form. I think this is the secret that no one else knows about her. This is why she feels guilty and she feels like she’s decieving everyone else.
