What I visualized in the book that Astrid’s mom (Claire) is relieved that it’s Saturday and wants to go somewhere fancy with her family.  “It’s Saturday…let’s go somewhere fancy!” Mom says, but everyone refuses to go because they were busy with their own lives, like work, wasting time with neighbors, and worn out from the weekdays, except Ellis.  She seemed pretty excited to go have “A Mommy and Me Night” with her mom and got immediately dressed.  Ellis is dressed up all fancy just like her mom.  She is wearing her mom’s prized jewelry, the diamond teardrop earrings, and pendant.  She’s wearing a black velvet dress and a face that is joyful of happiness to have quality time with her mom.
