Get to know me, good ole’ Dimmesdale! (chapters 1-6)
Hello, my fellow Puritans! For those of you who don’t know me I’m a young, well- educated minister who came from the great English universities. I’m very smart and most people admire me for that and see me as a good, sweet man. I’m currently trying to get Hester Prynne to confess to me who the father of her daughter is. I feel so much pressure to get this woman to tell me her secret because everyone wants to know and is counting on me to find out and get all the scoop, they’ve always approved of my work and I don’t want this to change their opinion of me. Everyone has so much faith that I will get Hester to confess me her precious secret, people are even saying things like “So powerful seemed the minister’s appeal, that [they] could not believe but that [she] would speak out the guilty name..” (61). As far as I can see this is going to be a very difficult job but I’m determined to get this elegant women to confess to me after all I am a pretty convincing guy if I may say so myself. Quite honestly, I’m on Hester’s side I’m not judging her in any way. I’m going to try and get Hester to understand that she’s not the only one who has sinned and that her child’s father is also at fault not just her. I strongly believe it’s in Hester’s best interest to confess who her child’s father is, I feel like people will judge her less if she does so. I’ve been observing this poor women for awhile now and I’ve noticed she has to wear a red scarlet letter on her clothing at all times with no exception. I feel so much pity for her that “[my] young [pure] voice [sounds] tremulously sweet, rich, deep, and broken.” (61) every single time I talk to the poor woman. For the past couple of days I’ve been searching the internet and came across a website http://www.amazon.com/Pitch-Anything-Innovative-Presenting-Persuading/dp/0071752854/ref=sr_1_9?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1382032980&sr=1-9&keywords=book+on+how+to+convince+people where I can buy a book that will help me convince Hester and get her to see this situation the way I do. Hopefully things go my way because my name and reputation are at stake here! Anyways, I have to go and get to reading this book so talk to you guys later. Oh, and wish me luck!
