Connection Everybody’s All-American

When Gavin Grey has one last game to play and they do ceremony for his farewell game it makes me think of my father’s friend retired from teaching. We all went to his house like Gavin’s family and friend all went to his last game. When we were there speeches were made about him from his colleagues all made speeches about him. Like Gavin he “The last gift for him… was a rich set of golf clubs” (Deford 119). They all knew how much he liked to golf so that is what his colleagues gave him, likewise Gavin’s teammates did the same thing. My father’s friend’s retirement party helped me better relate and understand the situation in the book.
