I AM AND ALWAYS WILL REMAIN A LEGEND (chapters 20-24)

November7

Peace be upon you.  On my second blog post I mentioned what occurred to me in the forest and that I’m going to begin a new life by moving to Europe with Dimmesdale and Pearl.  Well, today I have brought you some juicy and exciting news of my last blog post.  I know, tears, but I’ll be back soon.  As I mentioned that we decided to head to Europe was because so we can be anonymous and also it’s a better environment for Dimmesdale’s health.  Through my charity work, I was aware that the ship is going to departure to England in four days.  Native Americans and sailors from the ship plan to take me and Dimmesdale to Europe.  So, as we wait in the marketplace crowded by townspeople, Pearl asks me that will Dimmesdale hold her hand just like he did by the brook.  “And will the minister be there?” asked Pearl.  “And will he hold out both his hands to me, as when thou ledst me to him from the brook-side?”(178). The only reason he isn’t holding Pearl’s hand is because he doesn’t want to accept them in public.

While staying in the crowd and being totally ignored, I was lost in my thoughts thinking about how my life used to be dull and felt isolated, but now it’s about to change, change into something incredible.  But when I found out that Chillingworth was going to join us in the ship because the ship needed a doctor and told the captain that he was from my party.  “Ay, ay, you must have known it; for he tells me he is of your party, and a close friend to the gentleman you spoke of—he that is in peril from these sour old Puritan rulers”(184).  I see Chillingworth standing across the marketplace smiling at me.  Now, procession passes through the marketplace full of armed soldiers that are followed by a group of town fathers who are showing emotion and solemn displays.  I am just depressed to see the richness and power of puritan traditions displayed and I am also impressed to see Dimmesdale look healthy and more energetic than he has in some time.  Pearl came to me again and asked that she is tempted to approach the man and give a kiss of her own.  But I tell her that there is no time for kisses and that kisses are not to be given in the marketplace because Dimmesdale is trying to keep this relationship anonymous and everyone will get suspicious. “I could not be sure that it was he—so strange he looked,” continued the child.  “Else I would have run to him, and bid him kiss me now, before all the people, even as he did yonder among the dark old trees “(187).  “What should he say, Pearl,” answered Hester, “save that it was no time to kiss, and that kisses are not to be given in the market-place?(187).

I entered into the scaffold taking the old women’s place and listen to Dimmesdale’s sermons.  Later on Pearl gave me a message saying that Chillingworth will make arrangements to bring Dimmesdale on board, but for now it’s just my daughter and I.  While I worry about this new development that just occurred, everyone was staring right at me even if the knew the scarlet letter or not.  I went up with Pearl to the scaffold when Dimmesdale called me and he confessed for what he has committed.  When Dimmesdale confessed for what he did and showed the mark that was on his chest that he graved in himself, I asked him that will we be able to spend our lives together if not then we will all die even Pearl will die with us, but he said that it all depends on God and God will decide whether they will receive any more punishments for not

following His sacred law. I know not!  I know not!” she hurriedly replied.  “Better?  Yea; so we may both die, and little Pearl die with us!”(198). “For thee and Pearl, be it as God shall order,” said the

minister; “and God is merciful!  “Let me now do the will which He

hath made plain before my sight “(198).  And now Dimmesdale gave me his farewell and went straight to God.  Also, my husband (Chillingworth) died within a year of Dimmesdale’s death leaving Pearl a sizable inheritance.  My daughter and I left and came back after many years gone by.  I came back to live in the cottage and resume my charity work.  By the time of my death the labeled “A” which I still wore, lost disgrace it may have had.  Well everyone, I hope you all learned an important lesson by reading my blog posts and remember that what you do by listening to your heart can lead you into consequences or punishments because sometimes our heart can become very restless and can’t control yourselves, so that’s why sometimes we should not listen to what our heats says and wants because it could be negative, but if it’s positive then you must strive for it, but always keep in mind that first think over it, then talk to yourself, and finally achieve on it, but only if it’s toward the right path. Take care http://www.chipcoffey.com/
