Blog Post #6 Visualization
In the book Origin Pia is talking to Dr. Fields about the boy she encountered while she journeyed outside her encampment, which was not allowed. As they talk, the subject turns to who she will deal with her immortality. Dr. Fields talking to Pis, “Because you are young and free and one with the jungle. You are mortal, but instead of clinging to the hope of immortality, you embrace each day, one at a time, and never worry about tomorrow.” As I read that quote from Dr Fields, all I could see was a lonely Pia standing in the middle of her encampment; she stays young and beautiful while everyone ages and dies. I can see the jungle, with its trees, slowly dying and growing at the same time. Some of the trees dye, but somehow more trees seem to emerge, like some sort of magical essence of the wild. I see a crying Pia, sitting next to her once lively town full of scientists, friends, and family.
