Today is a mermorable day. It is a holiday because of the elections. A new  governor is being elected to take office. I am bubbling over with joy to see Dimmesdale give the sermon in his new found energy ,but this did not change my looks as i stood there in my usual gray clothes. As i stood there,  I saw Chillingworth having a conversation with the captain who would  be taking us on our voyage. After their conversation, the captain approached me saying,” I’m sure you know Dr. Chillingworth planned on traveling with us [Hawthrone 114].” With this, my heart skipped a beat because i don’t know how he got to know about our plan to run away from Boston. There and then, I knew Chillingworth was indeed the devil himself.

After the sermon, the energy Dimmesdale had has vanished. He walked on the scaffold asking Pearl and I to join him. He then confessed his sins in the crowd and collapsed. I was filled with anguish as well as my daughter to see Dimmesadle in this terrible situation so i asked” Will we meet again? Will we be together forever in the afterlife?[Hawthrone 123].” I waas happy and sad about Dimmesdale’s respones. He said, ”I doubt we’ll share eternal happiness together, but  God has proved his memory by what he’s done to me [Hawthrone].” Dimmesdale’s last word to me was ”Frewell. He gave up the ghost afterwards.

Dimmesdale’s death caused the vanishe of my daughter, Pearl and I . When i returned back back to  Boston, I was a changed person . This was because i learnt from my sins, but what I never did was to take my scarlet A off. I became respected and important person in the society. Hence, i was not proud of all that because to me, ”no one marked by sin should be proud or should feel special [Hawthrone 127].”
