The Horse and His Boy #8 (connection)
Shasta is the fisherman’s son and the fisherman’s name is Arsheesh. Shasta is a character who is interested in knowing about the north part of the village. He is not at all interested in anything that lay south of his village because he has been there twice with Arsheesh and he knew that there was nothing very interesting there. He has always wondered what would be there and how it was liked living in the north, all Shasta could see was the grassy slope running up to a level ridge and viewing several birds. He would ask Arsheesh about the north, but he would refuse to tell Shasta. “O my Father, what is there beyond that hill?” And then if the fisherman was a peaceable mood, sometimes he is also in bad moods too he would say “O my son, do not allow your mind to be distracted by idle questions.” Shasta is eager to find out what lies beyond the hill because she is all about adventure and exploring the other side of the world or her village. This reminds of when I was watching the news about a documentary of a girl and her family living in Kashmir. Kashmir is beautiful place full of mountains, greenery (nature) scenes everywhere, perfect weather, and gorgeous clothing. The documentary of the girl explained how she was eager to go on the other side of the mountain and see what it was like because she and her family have never been there. She asked her dad about the other side of the mountain because she was curious about it, but her dad did not want to tell her, but just in case the girl goes on the other side of the mountain, she needs to be aware of what is there and what could happen. Her dad told her that on the other side of the mountain are boundaries between Pakistan and India and in those boundaries are armed forces. So, now that the girl is aware of what is on the other side of the mountain, she would not even think about going there.
