In The Freak Observer by BlytheWoolston Lao a student is having school and family issues. He also faces the death of one of his friends Esther “Esther is dead now.” (Woolston 4). At first Lao played it cool, but it affected him he just did not show it. He tried to avoid it because it depressed him and his counselor is worried because he is in one of his most important year of highschool. Based on the information Lao might face more difficulty before things get better. He is also depressed everytime the us passes the area where Esther passed away and he tries to avoid by closing his eyes and pertends to focus on his french work.
