Blogpost #17 (connection)
In The fault in our stars by John Green I’ve found many connections as I read. For starters, in the beginning of the book I can relate to Hazel because her mom thought she was depressed because she “read the same book over and over and ate infrequently”and my mom thought that about me over the summer (Green 3). Secondly, like Hazel I was sick for a while and all I wanted to do was stay in bed watching TV. Additionally, when Hazel texted Gus instead of calling him like he asked her too it reminded me of me because I usually prefer to text people instead of talking to them. Furthermore, when the little girl came up to Hazel in the mall and asked her about her illness and she didn’t get mad it reminded me of my little niece who asked this lady who had cancer why she didn’t have hair and the lady nicely explained to her that she was sick. Finally, the fact that Hazel felt like her best friend didn’t really understand what she was going through reminded me of a time where I was going through a difficult situation and I felt like no one understood what was happening to me.
