IRB Post #17 (connection)
In ” Outcasts United” Coach Jimmy brings the team together for a meeting, everyone doesn’t approve of the idea. “Players and parents, we are here to bring a team back together so we can win a championship game.” (Chapter 9 Pg 4) After every game, my coach has a long meaningful speech about how we played, who sucked, and who scored. I understand that coaches motivate you to do better and accomplish your goal, on my team everyone hates each other because were all from different schools and different grades. We’ve had team meeting about friendship on the field and outside the field, it’s not working at all. As captain, I feel like it’s my fault for letting this happen and not saying anything, later in the season I will see how we do and if it’s getting worse I will step in and say a word so we can be a team again. “We punch, kick, spit, bite, grab ears, and throw gum at each other, what team does this at age 17?” (Chapter 9, Pg 7) I can connect to this quote in many ways, my team isn’t mature. We’re all going college, we all have a car to drive, and we all respect our parents, I don’t understand how we can’t be normal around each other. Taking responsibility for yourself is the key in our team, we need to talk more instead of fighting. The only good thing about my team Prince William County (PWSI) is that we always win and never lose a game or tournament. In the future, I hope we can become friends and better teammates before college comes and there’s no PWSI.
