Questioning #20
I read in the book “Virginia” that Virginia is the cornerstone of American history. “Virginia is the cornerstone of American history. The growth of the original thirteen colonies spread out from Virginia.” (Blashfield 9) So my question is why Virginia was the cornerstone? And where was the first place the British people settled. At that time there were many people traveling from England to America. “The new king, James I, encouraged the founding of a colony in Virginia.”(Blashfield 15), of course after the king encouraged his people to find those colonies, a lot of British people started to travel to America and that was really what British people did. “Three ships set sail for Virginia from England on December 20, 1606.”(Blashfield 15) So I want to know how long they took for this journey to reach America, and was it difficult crossing the Atlantic Ocean by those ships or not?
Dear me1056,
Hello, your questioning strategy looks great. You questioned your question in a brief way. The book seems great; it is good to know the history of the state where you live. Let me answer one of your questions just for fun. I think the reason that Virginia was a cornerstone is that the state is on the side of the U.S. which is kind of on the corner of the country. I guess that is all I know. I liked the way you used multiple quotations from the book. I also have some suggestions for you to make you writing more clear. The first suggestion is that when you put a quote, don’t forget to cite it as it is one of the requirement. The second is when you cite a quotation you should place the period after closing the parenthesis. U also repeated words on the first and the second sentence of the paragraph, so u should cancel repetitions. Over all it looks great and clear to understand your questions. KEEP UP! Thanks.

Hello, me 1056, I hope that you are enjoying reading a book about the 13 colonies of the U.S.A. I have the answers to your questions. From British to America it took 1 or 2 moths to British’s ships to cross the Atlantic ocean. it was a very difficult journey because many of the British who tried to cross the Atlantic ocean died by anger or they got loss during the journey.
