In Catching Fire, Katniss returns to her home town, District 12, and resumes her day as normal. However, ever since Peeta announced his love for Katniss, Gale has been giving Katniss the cold shoulder. “Before, [Peeta Mellark], announced he was madly in love with [Katniss],” Gale and Katniss were really close friends, so close that many people thought they would get married, so “it was nothing but painful for Gale”(Collins 5). I think that Gale and Peeta will give Katniss the cold shoulder until Katniss decides who she truly wants to be with. I predict Gale will get the wrong impression and ignore Katniss entirely, thus trowing Katniss into a state of confusion, bringing her to the conclusion that she should be with Peeta. I believe that when Katniss shows affection to Gale, people will know that the Peeta and Katniss romance was just a rouse and turn against them. I think that fallout will occur between the Capitol and Districts, eventually.
