  2. 4th Graders Collaborating in Literature Circles!

    October 9, 2015 by Ms. L

The 4th Grade students in Ms. Lindauer’s class are now working in small groups called literature circles.  Here’s a quick explanation about literature circles.

In literature circles, small groups of students gather together to discuss a piece of literature in depth. The discussion is guided by students’ response to what they have read. You may hear talk about events and characters in the book, the author’s craft, or personal experiences related to the story. Literature circles provide a way for students to engage in critical thinking and reflection as they read, discuss, and respond to books. Collaboration is at the heart of this approach. Students reshape and add onto their understanding as they construct meaning with other readers. Finally, literature circles guide students to deeper understanding of what they read through structured discussion and extended written and artistic response.

  3. Parents Challenged At BTSN!

    September 24, 2015 by Ms. L

At Back to School Night, parents of students in TAG math were met with very challenging equations to solve created by their very own children.  They weren’t allowed to use calculators either.  How very cruel that was!  Check out the two pics taken of parents working on the math problems.

  5. The 2nd Week of School?

    September 15, 2015 by Ms. L

I’m sure I am not alone when I say that I can’t believe the middle of September has arrived.  I am thrilled to be the new TAG Language Arts teacher here at GM.  I know quite a few families as I have taught older siblings, and I look forward to building community with those families who I am just meeting.

I consider myself very fortunate to have a kind and exceedingly competent counterpart, Gina Indellicate.  We are both firmly committed to the success of our students in all areas of their lives, not just the academic component.  We hope to see you all at Back to School Night.

    Regards,

    Ms. Lindauer
