September 22, 2016 – Open Educational Resources with Allison MacMahon

This session will explore Chrome tools for struggling learners and the use of Open Educational Resources (OERs) as a part of the U.S. Department of Education’s campaign #GoOpen.  The U.S. Department of Education’s #GoOpen campaign encourages states, school districts and educators to use openly licensed educational materials to transform teaching and learning. OERs are learning materials that can be used for teaching, learning, and assessment without cost. They can be modified and redistributed without violating copyright laws. OERs can increase equity by providing all students access to high quality learning materials that have the most up-to-date and relevant content.

November 10, 2016 – Scratch Jr with Erin Weleski

Coding is the new literacy!  Coding may be one of the most important skills kids aren’t learning in schools. Learn how you can introduce coding in your classroom, regardless of the age of students you teach. Hear about how Erin uses Scratch Jr with her elementary ELL students and get ideas about how you can use Scratch Jr., as we approach the Hour of Code in December. December 15, 2016 – Discovery Education with Sandi Slaven

This session will explore Discovery Education and the interactive assessments available to teachers through DE. Discovery Education offers digital media content and a variety of teacher resources enhance lessons and provide high-level of engage for students in all grades. Discovery Education also provides resources to teachers include interactive lessons plans aligned to content standards. Discovery Education is a great tool to use for students in a 1:1 classroom, or present to whole class.

January 12, 2017 – Curating Digital Content to Boost Student Engagement with Carmen Canales

Say so long to the days where students are passive and unengaged during instructional videos.  Edpuzzle enables teachers to curate interactive video lessons and flip lessons so students can engage with targeted concepts either in the classroom or at home.  Teachers are able to add questions, additional information, and assessment information into already (or newly created) videos. https://edpuzzle.com/

February 9, 2017 – WeVideo.com with Tyler Eckhoff

WeVideo.com is an interactive tool that interfaces with Google Drive in order to allow students to create engaging videos.  Students are able to upload media, record sound/video, edit projects, publish videos, and revise videos through WeVideo.  Teachers can upload select media for students to use, or allow them to upload their own appropriate media content.  Creating videos and documentaries are great ways to have students generate a project-based summative assessment at the end of a unit.  The website is a great resource to engage students and help build a project-based unit plan.

April 27, 2017 – Digital citizenship & information literacy with Cary Hanson

In this session we will explore Common Sense Media with ideas for  sharing strategies for teaching about digital citizenship to students, parents and teachers. June 1, 2017 – Technology Round-Up

In this fast-paced session participants will share their favorite tool and how it has impacted teaching and learning in the classroom. Enjoy the quick sharing, the plethora of new tools and the chance to hear about a resource you haven’t tried before.
