Samantha is a Librarian II with the Beatley Branch. She works each day to assist customers in finding information and use of computers. She also serves as the Librarian in charge of Interlibrary Loans and Volunteer Services.

What types of work will the intern perform?

Interns will start with basic library functions like learning to shelf books, clean the stacks and pull holds. As they get comfortable with those functions, they will also have opportunities to learn about more advanced functions of the library and shadow staff who serve in those roles.

What might a highly motivated intern experience while working for your organization?

  • Learning the basic functions that keep a library running.
  • Learn how the parts of the library work together.
  • Shadow and learn from staff who serve in the different positions in the library.
  • Student may have the opportunity to assist with events and computer classes.
