The term “raked” is used for the angled shape of the steering head to which the front wheel is mounted. This can be compared to a child’s bicycle. A child’s bike turns best at walking speeds. “At nearly zero degrees of rake(angle), the momentum at a higher speed will cause the bike to fall over when the bike turns at an angle counter to the centrifugal force at the wheels. The forward energy cutting through the plane of the centrifugal makes the bike fall.” If you take a motorcycle with an engine in it that can allow the bike to go seventy five miles per hour and turn it, the same thing happens to the motorcycle as the kids bike, it goes out of control and falls over. Manufacturers raked their motorcycles appropriately for speed.
