A has learned that Owen, Leslie’s brother, is a pothead. During the school day, Owen is called to the principal’s office. I inferred that A does not really care because all she states is that she hopes she has not lost her ride home. Owen tells his parents that he got in the fight because he supposedly was angry that the girl he liked was talking to another guy. The punishment for Owen is to clean his room. A knows that Owen is lying, yet covers for him. A begins to break her own rules because while Leslie would let it go that Owen yelled at her to leave his room, A stands up for herself. She asserts her command over Owen because she is the one that is covering for him.

A wakes up in the morning remembering her time in Justin’s body. “I wake up thinking of yesterday. The joy is in remembering; the pain is in knowing it was yesterday” (David Levithan). This quote conveys how A is still lost in her thoughts about being in Justin’s body and spending time with Rhiannon. This morning she has awaken as Leslie Long, an unpopular sixteen-year-old who has an older brother named Owen. A states that she prefers to be an only child. Throughout the day as Leslie, A begins to learn the mannerisms of Owen and Carrie, Leslie’s best friend.

Blog post #32 Tina Fey bossypants

Tina got her first job as a night box office manager at a youth theater program called summer showtime. It was like a community program. Young teenagers put on movies for children. They also taught kids about music, art, carpentry, discipline, friendship, and team work. Tina took the job at showtime, because she wanted to work with her boyfriend ” I took a job as the night box office manager at showtime so i can have fun with my boyfriend” pg 35. I made a connection to this, because my first job was at a recreation center working with a lot of kids.

i am currently reading Harry Potter the chamber of secrets, and i have two question to ask. my first question is how did the giant snake get in the walls any? the reason the why i asked is, because in the book the snake was some how  sneaking through the wall and some how getting out, and attacking the students. and the second reason is, because “harry I think it is in the walls” that is the part i don’t understand: why or even who would a giant snake get into a  stone wall in the first place. my second question is how did the snake get in the school in the first place. the reason why i asked this question is because i do not fully understood why you would have something like that in the first place. personally I have never heard of anyone who would be crazy enough to keep a gigantic snake as a pet.

The Killables!!!

June4

The book i am currently reading is titled The Killables. It is a book written by Gemma Malley. This book is all about a dirty town that needed cleaning and indeed cleaning is what it got. Everyone believes that physical we are not the same and that we are also different inside also. You just had to know how to tell the differences. In the town Evil had been totally eradicated and the City has been established just like a new-born. People and citizens are only granted access when they have the evil aspect of themselves eradicated or removed. “Imagination shows an ability to lie, to pretend the world is different than it is.” ― Gemma Malley, The Killables

The system only knows and measure how good they are and the gratitude they show. If there is any sign of evil or bad they are labelled K. People do not know what that K means but all they know is that as the disappear the do it for good without returning back. I predict that the people are going to find out where all the killables are at and then maybe go against the system.

The next part of the story is very tragic. Ram now tells his lawyer about the life experience that led him answering the second question correctly. He reveals some more of his background. He tells us about how he was left by his mother at a church. In this chapter he also explains that a priest named Father Timothy took him in and the inscription INRI is on the cross in the church. He also tells of his horrible experience when another Father in the church named, Father John killed Father Timothy and then turned the gun on himself and how he found their bodies. The number 2 question ends up being, “What is the sequence of letters on a cross?” and of course he knew the answer (Swarup 52). I want to know, Why did his mother leave him on the church steps?

The Best Mother’s Day Gift

June4

Even though everyday your supposed to make your mom feel like the only women in your life, they have one special day out of the year named after them. Mother’s day is about them….the whole day. This particular story is mind blowing and I couldn’t believe it when i saw it and read it. Michael is a minority from Asia and his mom has been there his whole life. She worked so hard and had a house in Las Vegas but because of the economical downturn she lost her house. She also had cancer and her son Michael had to take care of her and he was there when she needed him. Michael dropped out of school, quit his job, just for his mom. Mother’s day 2013 he decided to get his mother the best gift ever! He gave up almost everything to get his mom this gift too. He bought her……A HOUSE for Mother’s day. This story was just mindblowing when I read it. I also felt a connection between Michael and I because I would give up anything for my mom.

I am at the part in Slumdog Millionaire where Ram begins to recount his life to his lawyer. He begins by telling the life experience that led him to answering the first question on the game show correctly. In this chapter we also learn a little bit more about his life. We learn that he has a best friend named, Salim, who has an idol named Armaan Ali. He begins by telling how his friend’s “tiny room in the chawl is a shrine” of Ali (Swarup 19). Since his friend has so must knowledge about Ali and takes Ram with him to see movies of his, he acquires that knowledge. The first question is “Can you name the blockbusting film in which Armaan Ali starred with Priya Kapoor for the very first time?” (Swarup 33). Of course, Ram answers this question with ease. Why would they think he cheated when these questions are so general?

Worst Mother’s Day Possible

May15

The article I read is all about how yet again, there is another act of violence in the United States. This time though, it was toward the mothers on Mother’s Day. In New Orleans, May 12th, the Mother’s Day parade was interrupted with gunfire throughout the crowd. There were shots “fired from different guns” from three suspected people, who surprisingly were not caught. My take on this act of violence is a stretch to some, and a possible take from many others. I believe that on December 21st, 2012, the world was affected by something seen as the “New World Order.” Ever since December, there have seemed to be much more violence and large scale crimes in the United States, and they continue weekly it seems. This is just another event of violence this past month it seems, alongside the Boston bombing, the missing girls captured 10 years ago, the attempt at poising the president, the Jodi Arias murder case, and many more it seems. What will happen next to our country that everyone seems to want to live in?

Dear Old Boy

In the book “The Great Gatsby,” I found that there are many predictions to be made in the book. After reading the book for the second time outside of Mrs. Dietz’s class, I began making my own predictions on the affairs of all the characters and their outcomes. One prediction I made was of Nick and Jordan, on whether or not they would be together at the end of the book or not. My prediction was no because they came from different worlds; Nick was not famous, unlike the professional golfer Jordan. I also made the assumption that Daisy would never look back on her life with Jay Gatsby, and my assumption will never be able to be proven right or wrong due to the ending of the book. The book was possibly the best book that could have been assigned in English class, and I cannot wait to watch the movie.
