Hello, for those of you who do not know me, my name is Arthur Dimmesdale. I have been living in the new world ever since the first of the convoys sent from England. The trip was rough and the seas did not let up, but yet, I am here, writing this, so God most certainly has determined my destiny. Ever since I got here, I have been the town minister ever since I got here, and all of the villagers love me. Life has been pretty fantastic, that is, up until now. For lack of better words, let us just say I messed up, big time. Now I have this girl to worry about. Her name is Hester Pryne, and she is like no other woman in this town. Hester is quite beautiful, unlike the other women of this village, who are, for the most part, solemn and strict. This is wrong of me to say, for I should be unbiased and fair, but this is my only chance to speak my mind. I am feeling terrible today; I had this Hester Pryne stand on some scaffolding all day yesterday. I could barely stand to watch, but I was forced to question this woman and determine who the man who had done this was. I fell like such a hypocrite! Meanwhile, I have this entire town looking up to me for religious advice, and they love me! I feel awful; I need to tell them, but I cannot.
