Walden Plan #1

January7

A rut is like a bad habit that is really hard to break, and all kinds of people have trouble breaking then. My rut would happen to be texting, I text all the time and end up sending tons a day. Too me I don’t think that me texting a lot is a big problem but my parents that I text way to much, but I don’t think so, because I do not like to call people a lot. This rut doesn’t really make my life less simple because it doesn’t not interfere with my school work or homework its just i like to text and be on my phone.

Trying to break this rut will be kinda hard since I am not a big fan to talking on the phone but only on certain days and depending on how I feel. With me doing this experiment to me I do not think this will effect my dreams and goals. All I have to do on my part is to text less and less and try to put that energy into my school work and focusing on passing my classes and test. With the saved time I read more and put more effort into my homework, and try not to be tempted to get my phone when ever I get a text or when ever I feel like giving up. I hope to gain not a lot just that I should text less and that’s pretty much.

My Emerson quote would have to be, ““Always do what you are afraid to do.” (Emerson) To me this quote means even if you are afraid to do something you never know what is going to happen. Fear is something that can take over someone completely and make them feel weak and less confident in them selves and trying to defeat that fear. Also even if your afraid you never know what the out come will be when you try to conquer that fear that is completely taking over you and stopping you from becoming strong.

I LOVE your interpretation of how fear impacts confidence. That is great insight. Good luck with texting less. Do you have a specific plan like only text from 4:00 – 6:00 PM or only on certain days of the week or only on weekend nights?
