Week #23 – War Heroes

April2

When Chiarini reached the Marines, he saw that they all had suffered shrapnel wounds to their arms, legs, and faces.  Some was more severe than others.  He also realized that the militants were shooting at them from three directions.  The drive of the lead Humvee was temporarily blinded from the flash of the blast.  The driver was firing toward the wrong side of the road.  He had shrapnel wounds from head to toe.  Chiarini to the driver “You’re shooting in the wrong direction.”  Chiarini noticed that the interpreter’s arm was blown off.  Chiarini went to Kenny and said to him, “Let me take care of you.”
