Ghetto Pocahontas
After Pocahontas gets out of the hospital after the fight at the strip club she goes straight to her mom’s house. Pocahontas’ daughter Tearra lives with her mom because the father did not want the baby so Poca did not want her. The fight at the club was a near death experience for Pocahontas and all she wanted to do was see her baby. When she got there “something unexplainable happened to Pocahontas as she stood in the doorway of Tearra’s room. Suddenly she burst into a fit of tears.” Pocahontas thought of all the people she wronged and suddenly felt guilt and sorrow. She was so used to not feeling emotions. She knew that Tearra might grow to resent her but she saw giving her to her mom as unselfish because “…she knew she was not mother material and would do nothing but hurt her child,” This sudden epiphany and change in emotion in Pocahontas was caused by her near death experience at the club. When JT was beating her up she saw her life flash in front of her eyes. Pocahontas is a naturally selfish, vindictive, malicious person and that sudden show of emotion is unusual for her character.
