Just my rut

December11

My rut is taking very long naps through out the days. These naps are a bad habit and the time I use taking naps could be used for something more productive. The most difficult part about trying to break this habit would be trying to find something else to do which is usually why I take the naps but it could also be interesting seeing what I can find productive to do. This experiment will help me achieve something that will benefit me for example I might find an enjoyment for something that I never thought I would enjoy. I may come across new interest and new likings for subjects.  With the time saved I could also just do something fun that I usually do other then take naps. I also hope to gain self-awareness and realize I can be more aware of myself and things around me. “Simplify, simplify. Instead of three meals a day, if it be necessary eat but one.” (Thoreau 384)

“Just my rut”

Wow – there is so much to do around our area. You could go to some of the free museums in DC and Alexandria and look around. That might give you some ideas about what interests you. You could look at a rack of magazines in a store to see what types of things people write and read about (cooking, sports, cars, boats, health). That might give you some ideas. See if there is a list of clubs at TC that you could join (debate, chess, biking) that might be fun and new and get you to meet new people. There are also a lot of parks around that you could explore and learn about the history of Alexandria.
