Walden Plan #3

During the past week I managed to stop my habit of constantly checking my phone.  If people call me I’ll let the phone phone ring, if somebody text’s me I’ll leave the phone alone. I can now say that I have changed a little for the better. Giving up this rut has made a good impact on my life. I am not worrying about my phone a lot. I am going out to the basketball court more often to play basketball with friends. Also I am being able to sleep even more now that I do not pay attention to my phone.

I am glad that about this experience. It has taught me a lesson that technology does take a lot of your time when instead you could be out there doing something more productive. Breaking this habit has simplified my life, it has made me feel less stress. Emerson once said “But in other hours, nature satisfies by its loveliness, and without any mixture of corporeal benefit.” I feel that this quote applies to my experience because, technology is making us forget the loveliness of nature.

    Congratulations! That is a hard thing to do – ignore your phone. But you seem to be replacing it with social things like basketball so maybe that is why it is easier to ignore the phone because the phone brings you social interaction too – just not in person social interaction.
