Better than 3D tvs? Prediction

January7

Can you believe it, there is a new kind of television coming at that is called Ultra High Definition.  What makes it ultra is that it has over 8 million pixels compared to a regular HD t.v. that has about 2 million pixels.  These new UHDTVs will be featured in the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week.  But the prices of these t.v. are way to high!  Toshiba announced that a 55 inch t.v. will cost about $8,700.  Paul Gagnon, director of North American TV said that “If you’re a consumer, you’ll pay more for a technology that you understand.”  I highly doubt this, just look at what happened to the 3DTVs, they did not sell as expected because their prices were to high.  If companies want UHDTVs to sell, they must figure out a way to make their television more affordable.

It seems that whenever something new comes out it always costs a lot at first. And then, after people don’t buy it, then they lower the price. I guess people who want to be on the cutting edge (and who are rich) will buy a $8,700 TV! That’s just crazy. That is about what one semester of college costs at state schools. That is a lot of money!
