Captain Jason Amerine was in Green Beret who was stationed in Kazakhstan training Kazakh paratroopers when he heard about the terrorist attaches on 9/11.  He and his team immediately returned to base to get their new orders.  Within days, they were headed to Afganistan.  The first mission for the Green Berets were to set up communications for a attack on Taliban militants.  “The Green Berets pulled out laser equipment, set up radio communications, and scanned the area with high-tech binoculars for the first sign of the Taliban” (10).  The Berets saw about 500 Taliban Militants in a caravan approaching.  They were able to notify the air-combat controller, who radioed the pilots of three air force F-16 fighter jets circling above.  The jets were so high in the sky, that no one could see or hear them.  They used laser-guided bombs to destroy the convoy.
