It went okay, it was a test for me. Giving up my rut was a positive effect because i had more times in my hand. I actually took time doing my homework and study. I am glad to have experience this because it was a test for me and i experienced how Thoreau gave up everything. Yes, my life simplified because i got things finished. Thoreau quote that represents me is “Be true to your work, your word, and your friend.”

The reading strategy I am reading is prediction. I predict that Karina and Trae aren’t going to stay together at all. The reason I say that is because Trae cheated on Karina. Karina found out because the girl Trae cheated with sent flowers and a card to their house. When Karina read the card “from Courtney congratulating him on being a father, along with a copy of the positive test results from her doctor, and her phone number.” When Trae walked in he saw that Karina was lying on the floor in the dark. He turned on the lights and noticed that Karina’s eyes were really red. That’s how Trae knew something was definitely wrong with Karina. Trae asked what as wrong with Karina. Karina got up off the floor and started to curse and yell at Trae. After Karina calmed down Karina told Trae that this girl sent these flowers and a card attach to it saying that he has a child on the way. Trae was so shocked that Karina found that all he could do is say sorry and apologize. After They finish talking Trae asked Karina if they could try to work it out, and Karina said yes they can work it out.

In the book “The perks of being a wallflower” there is a part where Charlie and his two friends, Sam and Patrick, go to a party with their group of friends. All of the friends decide to play truth or dare in this scene I see a group of people sitting on the floor in circle, speaking. It is then Charlie’s turn to choose truth or dare. He chooses dare and he is dared to kiss the prettiest girl in the room. Charlie’s girlfriend, Mary Elizabeth, is sitting next to him waiting for him to kiss her but instead he walks over to his friend Sam and kisses her. I then imagine Mary Elizabeth turning red from embarrassment and she runs into the bathroom slamming the door behind her and Charlie also turns red because he is confused. Charlie just stands alone in confusion as everyone in the room just stares at him because of the awkward situation.

As I keep reading, I visualize a lot of torment that seems to be spreading through her town. People are “always hear someone crying at school, the neighbors late at night or worst of all my mom in the middle of the night.” (page 269) I imagine her walking towards her town and people running everywhere screaming for help or in her case crying from left to right. I imagine it is a very dark time for this town so its not all rainbows and butterflies. I would not want to be in this troubled town where their is a low supply of food and no electricity, other wise i would be crying with them thinking that I am going to die too. I imagine that not that many people are playing in the play grounds during school like they did before the moon got bigger making the tides almost destroy half the world. I too would be in distress.

Jenny was still pretty upset about the miscarriage. She would wake up early every morning and just cry. John wanted to get Jenny out of the house, so he decided to take Marley to the beach where he could get some fresh air. John threw a stick into the ocean for Marley to go fetch. When Marley came back, he was “wagging with excitement, and promptly shook water and sand all over” John (Grogan 54). John was surprised when Marley came back and dropped the stick in front of him. He never thought this crazy dog would do something like that. After reading this, I understand this better because I had a Labrador when I was younger. I would throw a toy and Molly would get it and bring it back to me.

Unwind is getting better by the second. When I was reading I found something that one of the main characters said that connects to moments in my life, “Connor wants to fight. He wants to mistreat the staff and disobey every rule…But he won’t give into the urge for two reasons…” (Shusterman 270). Their are moments when I want to do things that i know i must not because their are consequences. My mom was at the hospital yesterday because she had a baby, I stayed with her overnight. While I was there they had to take some blood from the baby for whatever reason. It took all the self control I could muster to refrain myself from taking the baby from the women. I know that you would of felt the same if you would of heard the baby crying. Their are so many moments in your life were you have to let your mind control your body not your heart, though I know it is really hard thing to do.

The book i am reading is Unearthly by Cynthia Hand. It is about girl Clara Gardner who has recently known that she is a part angel. She finds out that being a angel makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans. She obviously then knows that she is brought into this earth for a purpose. She then meets an earthly boy Christian who seems to turn her life good and as well as bad. She also catches another boy’s eyes-Tucker.
“Tucker: “But she gave me the perfect gift.”
Clara: “What?”
Tucker: “You.”
― Cynthia Hand, Unearthly
As pure and as clean as she her she is mixed up with between honesty, deceit, love, duty, good as well as evil. The fire in her vision finally sprung up. I predict she is going to finally get the better of the two and finally find the rightful purpose she is brought into this world for.

Bliss has met a girl named Sandy and they soon become friends. One day when they were in the bathroom two girls named Heather and Melissa go into the bathroom and start bothering Sandy. The two girls start insulting Sandy and when they leave the bathroom Sandy is so upset by it that she starts beating her forehead with her fists. Bliss got scared and told her to stop but she would not stop doing what she was doing. Bliss finally grabbed her by the wrists and held her tight until she was sure that she would not do it again. Sandy was upset that she did that to herself because she hated the way those girls made her feel. Sandy felt bad and thought that Bliss wouldn’t want to be her friend anymore “Go on, say it, I don’t think we can be friends anymore” (Bliss 118). Bliss made it clear to her that she wouldn’t end their friendship for that and she even invited her to her house.

I am still reading the “Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass.” Since Frederick Douglass was a slave he barely had any rights. Some rights that are taken away that Douglass describes is the right to education, knowledge of your age, and your childhood. This week I read about how “Frequently, before the child has reached its twelfth month, its mother is taken from it…” (Douglass 20). Most slaves did not even know who their parents were, and if they did get to stay with their parents until childhood their parents might get traded to work at another plantation. My question is, why did they have to take the mothers away from their children?

During the following weeks, the Miami Metro Police Department is on a search for the Ice Truck Killer. One night Dexter gets a weird feeling that brings him out in the middle of the night. While driving, he sees the truck that the Ice Truck Killer is supposedly driving. Dexter cannot catch up to him, it is as if he already knew Dexter would come after him, he said “I was merely tagging along behind like an unwanted little brother” (Lindsay.) Which just reinforces my previous prediction. Later the news came in that The Ice Truck Killer was caught, made a confession, and the case was closed. That could not be right, Dexter clearly does not believe that the man who was caught is the Ice Truck Killer; but he confessed so it would be hard to prove it is not him. Either way Dexter is mad at his boss, Lieutenant LaGuerta, saying “however coarse and brutal Daryll Earl looked, the real threat to society was LaGuerta. She had called off the hounds, closed down the hue and cry, sent the people back to bed in a burning building” (Lindsay.) He is saying that LaGuerta is an even greater menace to society than the man who for some reason, admitted to being the Ice Truck Killer. So why would Daryll Earl confess to crimes he did not commit? It may be because the Ice Truck Killer is forcing him to; but then again that would not make much sense, and that would be to obvious for it to be included in the book. I think there is a deeper reason, but there is not yet enough details to come up with something.
