the narrorator describes how the character looks. The reading strategy that i am going to use is prediction. He says that he was born with “too much cerebral spinal fluid” in his skull. He thinks that it is pretty normal but his family thinks otherwise. He also has 10 more teeth then the average person. he also has to wear thicck black classes. i can preict that he is going to have a hard time in school due to bullying.

I have started reading Slumdog Millionaire by Vikas Swarup. It is about a poor boy in the slums of India. He lives in a neighborhood where”arrests are as common as pickpockets on the local train” (Swarup 2).  The boy gets arrested after he wins a game show. The reason why they arrested him is because they think he cheated because he has never been to school or read a paper ever. This reminds me of how people think poor people are stupid and cannot do anything smart. This also reminds me of how badly poor people are treated in society like for example, if a poor homeless man goes into a restaurant they will kick him out just because he is homeless. People in society sometimes think of poor people as beneath them.

Previously in the book I have been reading titled Another Piece of My Heart, Emily returns back home. Even though Andi does not like the appearance of her step child, she adjusted to the circumstances. As that day went on, Emily spent it with her son. Andi overlooked the two, but Emily and Cal seemed to hit it off as time went by. Emily was coming to leave, but asked Andi if it would be okay if she picked her son up from daycare the next day. And this is what Andi says: “No.” “You gave birth to him. And then you abandoned him. That doesn’t make you his mother. You haven’t shown any interest in him for three years. He only knows who you are from photographs. You are not the one he wants when he is sick, or sad, or scared. I am his mother, whether I gave birth to him or not. And that’s the way he wants it,” I predict that Andi will let Emily pick up Cal, but will not let Cal be taken away from Andi.

As I have been reading in my book titled Another Piece of My Heart, Emily return home. She says ” I don’t think this is going to be the amazing family reunion he thinks its going to be. Let’s face it, Andi and I have never seen eye to eye.” Emily was much very missed by her dad and especially her sister because Sophia says “Emily!!! You look amazing! OHMYGOD! You’re home!” The author explains how everyone is so very happy to see Emily except Andi of course. Andi tries her best not to let her step child’s appearance bother her, but it truly does. Andi says she feels like taking Cal and running away because she feels like Emily has something up her sleeve. My previous prediction was wrong; Andi would never hand over Cal to Emily no matter how unbearable it is to raise a child. I predict that Emily won’t ask for Cal back right then and there, but eventually she will as the time goes by and she’s coming over to visit her son.

Previously in my book titled Another Piece of My Heart, the author writes about how sober and much better off Brooke (Emily’s mother) is doing. Brooke has been 3 years sober now and has been taking many recovery classes. The author exclaims how Brooke and her daughter’s relationship was not good in the past at all, but lately Emily has been calling more and emailing more. Brooke questions herself if it was a good idea of sending Emily the money so she could leave her father’s house. Brooke also says that her reasoning on giving Emily money to leave, was to give her daughter the opportunity to grow up. I believe that the money did allow Emily to grow up and make a difference in her life because she now considers on raising her son, and she has not even bothered to ask her mom for any money. The old Emily would only ask her parents for money, for either drug use or etc. Brooke called Andi to apologize for her wrong doings in the past and this is how Andi felt about it : “She didn’t ask for my forgiveness. She said she just needed to make amends although God knows what that means. She came out with all this stuff, then hugged me, then left. And now I’m stuck with it all.” I predict that Brooke will definitely push Emily in the right direction in taking care of her son and changing overall to be a great person.

Previously in the book I have been reading titled Another Piece of My Heart, Emily has considered on coming back to visit her son. As I have been reading, the author shows how hard taking care of Cal is. Andi is constantly telling Cal what not to do. I mean he is a baby, right? A baby does not know right from wrong, but it is definitely bothering Andi on how hard it is to take raise a child. Although Andi has wished for a child of her own, I predict she is coming close to regretting her decision on raising Emily’s baby. “No! Don’t touch anything. Oh, GOD!” This proves that Andi is becoming exhausted of all the work parenting comes with. I also predict she will become so tired of raising a child that is not her own, that when Emily comes back to reclaim her child, Andi will have no strength to refuse because maybe she just needs a break. Parenting isn’t easy, but it is harder without any experience.

Previously in my book titled Another Piece of My Heart, Emily has been left her new born son in the hands of her father and step mother because she was not ready to be a mom. Emily knew how much her step mother wanted to be a mother so she felt okay with leaving her son Cal in Andi’s hand. Emily has been gone for a year now, and is with her boyfriend Michael who is pushing her to go back home and raise her son. Not only is he telling her to be in her son’s life, but he is also implying that he wants to be apart of  Cal’s life too. Although Cal is still a baby and will scarcely remember that his mother left him when he grows older, I believe that Emily should come back in his life but should continue to let her Andi raise him because Andi and Cal have become so attached. Cal said to Andi “You are my mommy, Emily is my tummy mommy.” I predict that Emily will come back home and want to take her son away from Andi after it has already been 2 years and Andi will refuse so there will be a big altercation.

Tina realized that she was a women at the age of thirteen not because she was told by her parents but through her social life. Tina was constantly being bothered by guys because she had big boobs. This is when Tina experienced car creepery ” a dude drove by and yelled nice tits”. Tina knew that her body parts were causing her a lot of attention. She liked the attention, but at the same time she wasn’t always comfortable.  I predict that Tina is going to lose her virginity.

When Tina turned 10 she started to get hairy legs, and wanted to shave them. Her mom thought that Tina was to young to shave,  but a while latter she hit her first period. Her mom realized that she is going through puberty. She gave her a kit that explained the whole process called my first period kit ” inside were samples of pads and panty liners an two pamphlets”. Tina had to learn for herself her mom never explained to her what was happening. I made a connection to this because when my mom also never had the talk with my sister she learned on her own.

The book i am currently reading is titled The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and it is centered all around a circus. The circus arrives without warning or announcements. Yesterday it was not but today it is. Around and inside the canvas tents of the circus lies unique experiences of ultimate amazement. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves and the creepy part is that it is only open at night. Behind the curtains a competition is ongoing between two young magicians, Celia and Marco. They have been trained together since childhood for this by their instructors. Unknowingly to them this is a game in which only one can be left standing and the circus is the center stage for imagination and will. They kind of fall into a deep magical love that shows the romantic side of them. “The finest of pleasures are” mostly “always the unexpected ones.” ― Erin Morgenstern, The Night Circus.

The game must be played despite love or not. I predict that they are going to understand what is going on and finally pull safely out of it.
