I finished reading Mastiff and I find myself to be happy and sad at the same time. I am happy that Beka Cooper was able to save the king’s son but I cannot help but feel miserable at discovering Tunstall’s betrayal. This reminds me of the moment in my life when my friend betrayed me. Her name was Leyla, we were close friends and I would tell her things that I would not tell most people. I knew things about her and she knew things about me. One day I found out that she had told another of my friends a secret that I had solitary shared with her, I was terribly upset. In the book, Mastiff, Tunstall ended up selling his loyalty to those who had kidnapped the king’s son, “No one will tell, lest I give out they were in conspiracy to murder royal blood. Soon enough Baird will be king, I Lord Provost” (Pierce 536). Cooper and I were both betrayed by someone we trusted, even though her betrayal was more severe than mine.

The reading strategy I am going to use is prediction. I predict that Rasheed is going to get caught up with Honey and Michelle. I say this because he is playing both of these girls. Michelle is Rasheed’s baby mother, they have been together for about eight years now and they have a two year old son together named Trey. Honey is this young girl that works at Rasheed’s strip club, they have been together for four months now. Michelle is Rasheed’s main chick and Honey is his side chick, but they do not know about each other. Honey thinks that she is Rasheed’s one and only. Michelle has a gut feeling that Rasheed is messing around on her but every time she address it they get into this big argument. Rasheed does not think she is going to get caught “Far as she knew she the only one I was f****in’ wit’ and she had no reason to think otherwise”.

This book has been very interesting and overwhelming with emotions of hope, love, and sympathy. Even though the son is is disobeying his father because he was not allowed to be in love with this girl, i predict that the father will come around it this all and love his son again. It might just take some time because he says that “he’s disowned me; my parents stopped speaking to me this week.” You eventually hope for the father to eventually forgive Henry because what he is doing is for true love he has for this person. Henry is in the war and i predict that by the time that his father does come around to forgive his son, that Henry will die from acting in the war. I hope that this does not happen because from the way that the story has been going, everything bad has been happening.

I am still reading Vampire Diaries. At this point in the book have just finished doing the spell to find Stefan. Though Bonnie had told Elena not to go the the location where he is it is dangerous, she still goes but invites her friends along. After going to the bridge they realized Matt had followed them there [he knew Elena was going to find away to leave so he followed them] (Smith 288). They finally ended up finding Stefan in a well down the street from the bridge. Stefan was in a very bad condition when they found him. I think that his brother threw him in a well just to get Elena and to get his brother to break things off with her.

I have now began to read a book called, Jason and Kyra. It is about a boy, who is a popular athlete, and a girl who is quite the opposite. Kyra is considered a “loser” to everyone. They would never come in contact but fate intervened and they were paired to work on a project together. As time progressed they could not hide their feelings for one another. There was also a problem, Jason has a girlfriend. Her name is Lisa and when Jason breaks up with her to be with Kyra she becomes quite vindictive. Her and her friend were down the hall and they approached Kyra and Lisa threatened her and told her she was going to [see to it that she got a good lesson] (Davidson). I predict that Lisa is going to hurt Kyra in some type of way.

The Jews do not belive Mrs. Schareter’s vision and every time she screams about it they beat her. The train stops at a place called Auschwitz and news spreads that life is good there. Jews start to rejoice. Though Mrs. Schareter is still screaming until she is beaten silent. When the train starts moving again the Jews see smokestacks used to cremate bodies out of the window. After a while everyone is forced out. “We had arrived at Birkenenu, the reception center for Auschwitz.” I predict here things will get very bad for the Jews. Many people will die and be burned in smokestacks while others will struggle to survive.

Wiesel, his family, and 80 others are packed into a train car. It is very packed and there is no space to lay down. Not everyone can even sit at the same time. Everyone must take turns sitting. The Jews are scared into not running away because if one person escapes they will all be shot. In the middle of the night a lady named Mrs. Scharter has a vision of a fire. She tells the others “Jews listen to me! I can see a fire! A horrible fire! It’s a furnace!” I predict this is foreshadowing of what will happen to the Jews. It might mean they will literally be burned or a metaphor for the hardships they will face.

Wiesel and his family await at a small ghetto for their deportation. While there their former maid Maria wants to hide them but Wiesel’s father refuses. He wants Wiesel and his sister to go but the family doesn’t want to be seperated. People again start thinking things aren’t as bad as they seem. Some thought “who knows, perhaps we are being deported for our own good” (pg19) A few days later the jews are loaded onto a train and depart for their new “homes.” I predict the Jews will be taken to concentration camps. They will have to work and some will be executed.

After enforcing these rules all Jews are moved into “ghettos”. Though the Jews are optimistic. They think it’s not that bad since they now have their own part of the city for themselves. The ghettos were thought to be “a jewish republic. We appointed a Jewish Council, a Jewish police, a labor department- a whole government machinery.” (pg.9) One day Wiesel’s dad is summoned for a special council meeting. When he returns he tells the people they are being deported! Everyone packs and awaits the deportation. I predict the jews will be sent to concentration camps. A lot of people will die and bad things will happen

A few years later news is spreading that Hitler will wipe out the entire Jewish population. Though no one believes it and keeps living their normal lives. News also arrives that Jews can be attacked by Nazis but the town people doubt they will come that far to their town. “The Germans won’t get as far as this. They’ll stay in Budapest. There are political reasons…” Soon hard restrictions are passed against Jewish people; all if not followed mean death. For three days they aren’t allowed to leave their house, they aren’t allowed to have valuable items, and they must wear a gold star for identification. I predict soon Jews will be killed under false pretenses.
