The things they carried main idea

June5

In the book “The things they carried,” it starts out by saying how first Lt Jimmy cross carried letter from a girl named Martha. “First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross carried letters from a girls named Martha, a junior at Mount Sebastian College in New jersey” (page 1). In chapter 1, narrator explains what he and he comrades carried with them when they were in Vietnam during the war. The narrator also tell what equipment they carried and how much it weighed. He also talks about the letters he got from the girl Martha and tell that those letters are not love letter but he wouldn’t mind if they were. He also specifies what type of ammunition they had with them. The main idea of this chapter is just explaining how much weight they had from all there equipment and introducing the main character Jimmy Cross and where they were at which was in Vietnam during the war.

Eyerusalem

Based on the story of The Other Side of Truth, I do not understand why the Nigerian government is so cruel. “Every day we are robbed under our own noses. And it’s no use complaining to the police. Why? Because they are the robbers.” (Naidoo 26). People are very angry about their government. Why isn’t the president doing anything? What will happen if the people protest? Why aren’t the people protesting?

Should Firearms be legal to those at the age of 18?

June5

I was reading this article on CNN.com and it was talking about if they should have a law for people at the age of 18 so that they can carry around guns. But the catch is it will all depend on what neighborhood theylive in. I honestly think that this is a bad idea because anybody can lie about where they live and put a address in that neighborhood to get a gun. I think that the crime rate will raise a tremendous amount only because now people will find a way to get a giun. I can connect to this because I know a lot of people who have either been hurt or killed by someone underage who has had a gun. If they allow people to get guns at the age of 18 not only will it be stupid it will be dangerous. at the age of 18 you are still a child so you are going to do child like things, they should keep the law the way it is.

Gathering Blue

Based on this week’s reading I predicted that ‘s burned house is going to be taken from her. She worked very hard to keep this land and re build her house that was distroyed by the fire. On the other hand they want the land because “they want to build a pen there, to keep the tykes and the fowls enclosed” (Lowry 19). This means that they are going to kick her out of their and she would not have any where to go. Overall, this is what I predicted from this week’s reading.

Gathering Blue

Based on this week’s reading I predicted that Kira is going to need some one that can look after her like a parent. She is only a child, and she does not know what to do. She needs food, and shelter, but she does not have all that because she does not have any money. Also, she does not have shelter because her house has been destroyed by the fire. in the book it says that “her water container was empty and she had no more food” (Lowry 18). This means that she needs water and food, but she has no idea how to get any of those. Overall, this is what I predicted from this week’s reading.

Gathering Blue

Based on this week’s reading I predicted that Kira is not going to be alone. Kira has a friend named Matt and the community does not like him because he is poor and he was from the fen just like the community do not like Kira. On the other hand she does not care about  how poor he is , they are best friends. In the book we can see this where it says “they were looked down upon by most people. But not by Kira” (Lowry 13). this means that Kira does not think like the rest of the community. Overall, this is what I predicted from this week’s reading.

Gathering Blue

Based on this weak reading I predicted that every one in the community is not a fan of Kira because of one reason. This reason is that she is different from the rest of the people in the community. She is disabled, her legs do not function the way others leg function. Even though before her mom died, her mom  tried to make Kira feel better by saying “when I held you even then, with your spirit not yet arrived and with your leg bent wrong, but you eyes were bright”(Lowry 10). this means that Kira’s mom were the only one who did not make Kira feel bad about herself, but now her mom gone the community is going to discourage her. Overall, this is what I predicted based on this weak reading.

Blog post #32 Tina Fey bossypants

Tina got her first job as a night box office manager at a youth theater program called summer showtime. It was like a community program. Young teenagers put on movies for children. They also taught kids about music, art, carpentry, discipline, friendship, and team work. Tina took the job at showtime, because she wanted to work with her boyfriend ” I took a job as the night box office manager at showtime so i can have fun with my boyfriend” pg 35. I made a connection to this, because my first job was at a recreation center working with a lot of kids.

Microsoft’s new Xbox will drastically change your living room. Officially called the Xbox One, the new console comes with a built-in Blu-ray drive, extensive cloud capabilities, and the ability to bring in live TV directly from cable providers and the Internet.  The new console will come with a redesigned Xbox controller and a smarter Kinect camera.  It will let you run movies, while also letting you browse the internet.  Many are anxious to hear the price and the release date, but ” Like Sony, the company offered no pricing or an exact release date” (Louis Ramirez).  Once the new xbox comes out in stores, I think it will take sometime until it gains popularity due to its starting price, which is rumored to be set high.

Skylark

June5

I have picked up Skylark once again. Lark at the moment is still fleeing from the institution. The Institution had been planning to turn her into a power source, a machine that would have had wires connected all around her body. Fortunately she escaped and left the city. She is rationing whatever food she has and is utterly worn out. Lark is in constant fear that the machines that the institution have let out to track her will find her, which one night, one did. Lark was able to crush the machine but it started rebuilding itself the only reason she did not kill it was because it made bird noises out of nowhere. This is what Lark was searching for, birds, so she stopped; supposedly birds would lead her to people that could help her. The little machine informed her that it could lead her to the birds. Lark decided to trust it because she had the part of the machine pixie that helps it get back to the institution. Lark believes that the machine is nothing but a machine. I believe this machine has feelings by what Meagan Spooner writes on page 154,”“Shadow men,” repeated the pixie. For the briefest second, I imagined I had detected amusement in its voice. Which was impossible, of course.” My prediction is that this machine pixie is going to get fond of her or it is going to turn her in the moment it gets its little mechanic hands on the navigation piece, the one that takes it to the institution.
