Reflection on TLP Experience

I was not expecting to learn or implement as much as I did this year. Through several Teacher Leadership Project trainings, I have seen many different apps and websites implemented in different subjects at many different levels.

It was fairly easy to envision the future of the technology in my classroom because the hardware was readily available. The world language team has 2 iPad carts and a laptop cart. Between 9 teachers, it was relatively easy to share.

Videolicious

Although I enjoy Videolicious, the time limit was a pro and a con. It allowed the long winded children to keep their projects concise, but it limited the amount of information that could be shared in a video. The students enjoyed using Videolicious. At this point, Seesaw and iMovie were not on the iPads so the Spanish 2 teachers did what we could to best implement technology into the transfer task.

Kahoot!

At first, all students were very excited about Kahoot! The first time I used this game-based app, it was not an educational quiz. The students really enjoyed using it. Throughout the year, I began using it to review for quizzes and exams. Students who don’t typically do well would still participate, but they did not like the game much because it ranked the students. If I could somehow hide the ranking feature, I would.

PicCollage

I extremely enjoyed PicCollage. It was a common sense app that functioned with simple touches. Many of the students liked working with the iPads. They liked taking pictures of each other as the “criminal.” In retrospect, I would’ve put a strict policy in place on picture taking. There were students who did not want to be in pictures. I stopped it when I saw it, but next time, I will put an advisory in the instructions.

QR Codes

I am a QR Code fanatic! It saved so much paper by not having to print out copies of articles or information for the students. They are still getting used to what a QR code is, but they are becoming more familiar. I also enjoyed using QR codes to display student work.

Seesaw

Seesaw has been a game-changer for the students and me for turning in online assignments. It was simple to create classes, and for students to upload projects. I wish I would have known about it earlier in the year so that parents could be more involved and view the projects.
